About Your Host

Gabrielle Pressley is a long-time history nerd with a passion for education and telling lesser-known stories from women's history. She is a recent graduate of the College of William & Mary where she earned her master's degree in history, writing a research portfolio entitled "Words Have Meaning, Choose Them Carefully: Language and the Obfuscation of Women's Contributions to American Warfare."

She currently works as a historical interpreter at Jamestown Settlement and a storyteller for Colonial Williamsburg, bringing stories of Early America's colonial past to life for visitors. She is also a Museum Education Intern at the US Army Women's Museum.

Prior to that, she was a high school social studies teacher for several years, teaching both US History and US Government.

Gabrielle also suffers from a severe case of wanderlust and absolutely loves to travel. During her time as an undergraduate student, she participated in two study abroad programs, including Semester at Sea. During that time, she visited battlefields, historic sites, and museums all across the globe. She has continued this since graduation as well.

In her free time, Gabrielle continues as a living history interpreter with Hampton Roads Wartime Women. The unit interprets the lives of American women in World War II, especially those that joined the Women's Army Corps. She is also a voracious reader and runs a bookstagram account about all about her literary adventures.

Gabrielle is also a proud fur mama to three rescue critters, one dog and 2 cats, alongside her incredibly supportive, and similarly nerdy, husband David. As a family, they love snuggling up on the couch to watch TV and movies together. Her youngest cat is trying desperately to train as a research assistant too. Gabrielle and her husband also love hiking and being outdoors, especially when they can bring their pupster along.
